Jobless Claims – Is the Recession on its Last Legs? The National Bureau of Economic Research has yet to announce whether or not the U.S. economy is experiencing a recession. Two consecutive quarters of declines in real GDP have not been reported. But, there have been two quarterly dips in the gross domestic income (GDI).
